Concern

I’ve thought about this election a fair bit, as I think we all have. I wasn’t expecting Trump to win again. I think I suspected it was slightly more possible than the Europeans who were fascinatingly blindsided by this.

The most incredible bit about all of this is how little any of us have learned. I want to think of Trump supporters as rubes, as psychopaths, as lead-poisoned dullards out to screw up the world with half-baked accelerationism and middle-school reading levels.

But what I’m realizing is that while many of them are that, we are badly underestimating how stupid we are. I say we as the left leaning affluent and educated.

I mean honestly, how are we meant to consider what the democrats did, forcing a candidate through a rigged primary, through a rigged election cycle? Sure, we hyped up some level of enthusiasm, but I think we need to stop looking at swallowing what they give us for the sole reason of it’s not as bad as the guy the TV says is bad.

He’s bad, you won’t catch me saying Trump isn’t bad. He’s bad. They’re all bad. If you run for office, boom, you’re bad.  There are matters of degrees and in many ways I think the world would be a better place if Kamala had won, but honestly, even as I write that...shit, man.

Look at Gaza, look at the economy, look at the environment, look at the abuse of students, the poor, people of color, look at the whole damn world and tell me it’s alright. All of these people talking about how this bad thing or that is a taste of how bad a Trump presidency will be seem to be missing the fact that we’re IN a democratic presidency right now.

I’m not an accelerationist, I don’t think that Donald Trump will make things so bad that it’ll force change. If things get worse, they’re just worse. But I also don’t think it’s a strict binary where EVERYTHING gets worse or nothing does. The Democratic party, right along with the Republican party is a death cult hurtling towards an abyss we can all feel, even if we can’t see it.

We’ve got new friends moving in in March. They have farming experience and I’m hoping we can get some livestock: pigs, sheep, a cow or two. That stuff is going to be important.
