Time’s That Aren’t Night

Roby takes a long time to to go down for bed. She's got to wiggle and bauble and burp a time or ten before she's ready to snooze. That means we watch a bit of TV as it's happening, because she doesn't keep up her end of the conversation very well just yet. We tried reading, but it's hard to do with one hand and in the dark.

We keep the TV low, brightness down, subtitles on. That really limits what you can watch. Comedy's are out, tone and timing's too importat to find muse use with subtitles. Is that why an international favorite is selcomd funny? Probably.

Things that we've seen are best, but I don't really feel like rewatching things. Small community dramas, interpersonal and a bit slow burn are what we're finding to be the ticket. Bloodline was good, and now there's a new season of Fargo.

We watch tee vee then I go into my office to write my blog and play my game(s) as Abby reads, if Roby's asleep, which sometimes she isn't. Then I'm back in to read a chapter or two before I stop retaining any words and go to bed, an hour or two after Abby.

I've accepted that I'll just get less sleep than her. It's why when family visits I sleep in and she naps. It's the best part of having that kind of support. Watching movies, holding Roby, sleeping at times that aren't night.
