I played with A.I. art for the first time today, I did that and I worked and I cleaned my basement and I shopped for used clothes. I walked in the woods too, and made some food. I’m not sure how much I can add to the conversation around AI art, and I don’t think this blog is for adding to conversations in a constructive way, anyways. If you want to modify your thinking about AI art, read this.
For years I used to play a text based role playing game. My character lived in a variety of complex object based descriptions that were constantly changing. Concept art exists of him thanks to Arc Lamp, and now there’s another illustration thanks to Midjourney.

I think it’s pretty neat. It’s a pleasure to see something I’ve imagined for years brought into reality, even if it’s slightly uncanny and has some pretty horrifying implications about making art on this side of the twenty first century.
I wonder if the AI will ever do a good job making aesthetic photography. Considering what can be done with deep fakes, it’ll likely be able to make decent images of specific people doing specific things.
I don’t like that much.
