Dogs, Eggs, & Whistling

Meeting Roby and spending loads of time with her has been an inspiring experience to say the least. Every moment is illuminating, I learn something new practically every time I look at her. Sometimes the only thing I learn is what Roby looked like on February 24th, 2024, but that’s enough, it’s more than enough. Other times I learn about the golden age of a Dog’s life:

When the tiny human that they’re not allowed to play iwth or bite begins to eat food and not just milk, they get to hangout by the chair and pickup more scraps than their tiny hearts could have possibly dreamed of.

This was Scout’s reality this morning as Roby attempted to eat some omelette and squash. Mostly she pushed it into her mouth and made uncomfortable faces.

Scout was utterly rapt, fascinated, enchanted, awed. This will continue to be her joy for years, potentially to the end of her days as we have other children. For Scout February 24th 2024 is the beginning of the rest of her life, it’s when things really got good. Gone are the days of meals when we get up and at 4pm.
It’s snack time baby.

It’s not just me that learns from Roby’s presence, some people learn about me. Abby learned that I can do a special kind of whistle, at least we think it’s special. It’s possible loads of people can do it, we just don’t know. Abby can’t whistle, so it’s all special.

Before a nap Roby gets fussy, so I was trying to cheer her up by making silly sounds, and one such soudn was a trilling whistle I can do by vibrating the dangly thing at the back of my mouth.

Aby was astonished that she had never heard me make this sound in the 10 years we had been together. Rightly so, we know almost everything about one another. Though I do find it interesting the abrupt reduction in discussions of so called stupid human tricks after the 10th grade. They just evaporate.

Roby’s bringin’ em back.
