Rewarded

When work isn’t too too demanding and I think I can get away with it, I go on a walk with Robinia in the morning. Often times by the end I’ll feel that it’s gotten a bit late and I’ll sort of rush home. It depends on how much the phone is buzzing at that time.

That’s never been much of an issue, Roby usually naps on those walks or looks at the trees. Lately though I’ve been pulling her out of the carrier and letting her walk around a bit towards the end of the walk (She naps towards the beginning you see).

I do my best to let her choose the pace. She’ll pick up leaves or walk Archie or woddle on logs or just stand around teetering. It’s her time and we’re here for her to walk and be walked.

Today I was feeling rushed as she was playing on a log picking up leaves and I tried to get her moving, then decided, no, it’s fine, we’ll be fine, let’s just take our time. She was picking up piles of leaves from one side of the log and moving them to the other. So, instead of picking her up and taking her hand to continue our walk, I took a seat down the log to watch her.

She took another pile of leaves and then walked down the log to take a seat next to me, placing her hand on mine. An instantaneous and incredible reward for doing what was so obviously the right thing.
