Does waking up early give you super powers?
I mean, maybe. If today is any indication, maybe.
I woke up far earlier than I usually do and I enjoyed my morning routine of farting around, drinking coffee, feeding the dogs, catching up on emails etc., and by the time I was ready to kick things off, it was 8am.
Excellent.
I cleaned the shop and moved some old cutoffs into the firepit.
I measured and rough cut all the cherry for a new trestle table I’ve designed for my kitchen dining area.
I learned a taut knot and hung a clothes line, finally.
I bucked up a fallen maple tree and prepared it for a little project.
I walked the loop of our forest with a chainsaw and cleared any deadfalls that were across the trail, and even took care of a few widowmakers that menaced our walk.
I carved the standing dead maple I cut up into a little snake, then posted it into the ground with a bit of quartz in its mouth. I used that as a support for a hammock by the pasture loop.
Then Jack came by and we decided to go get a piece of quartz I’ve had my eyes on since the snow melted. It’s heavy so we built a sledge and a lever. We dragged it close to a quarter mile down through the valley and across the brook and back up. Now it sits at the entrance to our pasture loop and I feel very tired.
