Clown In The Palace
“When a clown enters the castle he doesn’t become a king, the court becomes a circus.”
That sounds about right.
While I believe that evil does exist in this world, most of our ills are the result of incompetence. Granted, corruption spreads the cracks in our virtue like roots in concrete, so it’s a bit of a give and take. Stupidity is the first cip that erodes into fullblown evil over time.
It might be easier to live in a world where all of our ills are perpetuated by conscious actors out to cause harm, and while those people exist, I believe them to be in the minority. Most of the bad exists despite the majority of people doing their best, their best just isn’t enough.
If most of the ill we encounter in our lives is the result of petty sin and incremental vice and foolishness, how violently should we kick against minor transgressions in ourselves and others?
