It’s been a while since I’ve written about the forthcoming and tiny new roommate we’ll be inviting to stay with us some time in the next few months.
We’ve had a fair bit going on and things appear to be on cruise control. We eat good, we go to childbirth class, we visit the midwives, we take naps, we put together diaper bins, we sand a bedframe that can accomodate co-sleeping.
I wouldn’t say things feel in hand, but they appear to be moving in that direction, even if it has a tendency to recede like the horizon.
That has been the lesson of this process of preparation: it’ll never end. I think we can find reprieve, moments of calm, but those are through a willful ignorance of what’s left to be done, and I think that’s alright.
Deciding that hey, maybe we don’t have to talk about this issue, or work on this thing, or debate this problem today because it’ll still be around tomorrow, or the day after, is actually a huge relief once you stop looking at it like a transgression.
We do plenty.
I hauled up three sizeable stones today. They’re for the base of my wood storage..thing.
