Part of me is tempted to reduce it from every day to twice or three times a week, but I know that, just as I did in high school, I’d be cranking out a day-blog the day of with no regard for how much time I had to improve it.
A while back I attempted a sub stack, and while it was met with appreciation, I found the whole thing kind of annoying. It felt too similar to the blog to be worth as much of my time as it took. I suppose I could just move the entire blog to Substack, and that might be the right idea, but I’m lazy and I like the website.
Anyways, I’ve been watching a bunch of Van Neistat videos, and while I started off thinking he was somehow an obstreperous dork and jerk, now I just know he’s obstreperous and my judgment of him was a reflection of my own ego. He’s just very confident and self-assured, things I am not, particularly with regards to notions of self improvement and making “important” work.
I quite like him, and I really ought to take a serious crack at video. I’ve taken a few quick recordings of Roby at the brook or playing around, but nothing with audio, nothing scripted, nothing serious.
The most realistic place to begin I figure is my 100 objects scheme. Wherein I just talk about 100 objects that I care about. Splice in some movies I love, books I love, old photos, whatever. On my walk this morning I thought through a floaty morning-brain pre-script for my belt, and boy oh boy did it spiral off into loads of stories, opinions and thoughts. Which isn’t to say I’d like it to be a hare brained sprawling thing, but rather that it has legs and can be a lot more than just, look at this pretty belt.
It’s unclear if anyone would watch this or care.
Strange that these things are not mutually exclusive.
