Taking Breaks
I dug out the area beneath the wall and placed some pavers, then I used a special tool to scribe the contortions of the pavers onto a piece of plywood, which I cut to shape with a jigsaw. It fits pretty dang good. It occurred to me that it’s sort of funny that I chose to fit the plywood’s edge to the jank of these pavers rather than taking my time to level the pavers. But...I would have had to dig them deep or fill up one side and, man, I’m no stone mason. I don’t care for the work of leveling stone. Give me a scribe line and a jigsaw and a rubber mallet any day of the week, that’s the kind of work I’m familiar with, comfortable even.
It fits now, I’ve got to paint it, but it’ll keep the draft out, at least on that side. I’ve got to patch a little bit on the north side, but I’m not in a massive hurry.
Mostly today we hungout inside and we watched Mrs. Doubtfire. An excellent film to say the least. We really enjoyed the film and our big breakfast of fried rice and our big lunch of steak. We didn’t get as much done as we would have liked, though we did get that patch done and a good start on cleaning out the chicken coop. But it’s not as much as we’ve been getting done. It has been a week for getting things done. Now that we’ve let that momentum flag a bit, well, it doesn’t feel great.
But hey, it was a rainy day after a busy week and it should be okay to eat mashed potatoes and watch a Robin Williams movie. That should be alright. I shouldn’t feel bad about it.
