Why is it so hard?

House Where Nobody Lives
Two of my favorite songs in the English language, and that’s the only language I really listen to music in. They both use a vocabulary any five year old could understand, but they bring such a depth of passion to those simple words, that it elevates it all enormously.
There was a book I heard about a few years ago, it was about fundamental physics and the dawn of the universe. The thing that was interesting about this book is that it was written using only the 1,000 most common English words. Universe is not one of them, neither is physics. They refered to the universe as “the all there is” which I think is kind of stupid. I’ve not read the book, so I can’t speak to the elegance of this approach.
Does simply limiting your vocabulary create a sort of laconic beauty? Probably not. If that were the case every fool would sound like Tom Waits or Charles Bradley, and I know from experience that I do not.
