MPOY_ICXC
I’ve made an internet friend, a friend on the internet. He runs a pretty successful (15k+) page of Orthodox content. There are issues with it, it’s cool and prideful in a way that the online Orthodox world can be, but it’s also just cool. Orthodox art is just rad, man. It’s rad and I don’t think it’s so terrible to be proud of that as long as you’re giving the glory where it ought to be and not taking advantage of people. It’s clear he really cares about this stuff and thinks it’s rad, that’s why he does it, because he believes in it, he’s not a grifter.
He’s showing me some of the ropes of how to do social media in that way, and he’s eager to collaborate. It could be cool, it’s what he does and it’d be a nice thing for me to do. I’d like for it to be at least part of what I do, to fund itself.
His name is Behold The Chalice, which is just a class online Orthodox type of name. Very metal. My etsy shop was called “Treasures On Earth,” which is ironic, since Jesus tells us not to collect such things and I’m telling people they very much should.
It’s too soft for the more metal aesthetic I can see myself leaning towards, but something overtly metal is too...well, metal. so the name I went with, the name that was inexplicably on Instragram and Etsy, is MPOY_ICXC. MPOY standing for "Mother of God". The abbreviation is for the Greek phrase Meter Theou, while ICXC is an abbreviation of the greek words for Jesus and Christ, unsurprisingly.
These are the letters written on every icon of Christ and his mother. Even with knowledge of what it means, it’s kind of ominous, kind of cool, kind of cyber. The type layouts will go hard, and I think it’ll be a good name.
