How much does our platform, our power, and our audience modulate how and what we talk about?

I’d say a lot, more than a lot, most. The points I have to make when my actions have an actual impact on the outcome are far different from when they don’t, and not in ways that I might expect.

I have almost total control over what I eat for dinner, and I approach that nightly question with a level head and a rational ease. Cucumber’s the word.

I have practically zero impact on federal legislature yet I will get to an even froth while discussing how foolish it is.

I will say offensive things about people and their perspectives when they are not at my table, but if I’m sitting with someone and I even suspect a more based perspective of mine might grate, I tread lightly.

I think they just call that being polite.
Being required to wear a muzzle and feeling comfortable enough to fully speak your mind, even if what you say is half-baked at best, feels important.

There was an ancient culture, I think in Persia, that beleived an argument was not fully had until it had been explored drunk and sober.

I feel that an idea hasn’t been fully explored until it’s been discussed in front of people who you’ve got to be careful with, with folks you trust, and alone.
