Alright, I’ll design this one for mobile.
A few months ago I got rid of my phone and migrated to an ipad, I use it for everything. I figured, it’s too big and annoying to whip out for the littlest thing, so I’ll use it less. Mostly I was right.
I used my phone far too much. I use my ipad far too much, too, though slightly less. I deleted almost everything off of it today because the things on it enhance my life just enough to be clever, but not enough to outweigh the lifetimes they twiddle away.
The internet trades in attention, and the greatest minds in our society are bent towards getting more of that currency.
No longer are they engineers who work on bridgeports, or artists who work in oil, they push bits, and they do it better than the old masters painted light and shadow.
I think the internet could have been good, and parts of it likely still are. But I don’t think I can access them in a responsible way, the temptation is too much. The temptation to play games or watch youtube videos of warhammer painting or politics, what do those things get me?
They don’t deliver me from evil, that’s sure a shit.
Also designing for mobile looks horrible. I don’t care if 90% of people use mobile, they shouldn’t and I’m not going to enable them.
This blog is for desktop computers circa 2007.
