I like a man who stays put.

That’s one of my favorite lines from Bladerunner, something about it’s amusing and strange and sad.

I went into the studio today, into Burlington, and I brought my dogs. One dog, the one who’s always perfect, even if she’s also always stressed out, was perfect, and maybe secretly stressed out.

The other one who is never secretly anything cried for most of the day because he likes to stay put. He likes his house and his routine and if anything breaks that, he cries, at length.

I empathize with that. I wonder how much of adulthood is just learning to not cry.

This tree had a spotlight on it, it didn’t make me feel like crying even a little bit. Well, maybe a little bit. It’s on the far edge of the place where three brooks converge, it’s a special place right on the edge of the property. I think it’s special because it has things like this, they happen all the time, even when we don’t notice them. Even when we’re not there to notice them.
