Chicken Fence Et Cetera
We got all the things for a chicken fence. We splurged a bit, but not too much. It’s made with metal t-posts and cattle wire, it’s down and dirty but chickens won’t get through it or above it.
A funny thing about living in the country is the slow accumulation of things. It’s expensive living out here, but mostly because you’re always needing to buy things that last decades. I plan to use this fence in some form for a goodly long time.
I wonder what it’ll be like in five years or ten, once I’ve shelled out for the fence, the sheep house, the chicken plucker, the post hole digger, the fast growing trees, the barn extension, the tractor.
I’m sure there’ll be things to do and things needed I can’t even fathom yet, but that’s just life, I suppose.
The trick I reckon is to be glad that the chickens won’t be pooping the barn much by summertime, they’ll be happy outside and I’ll be happy for them.
