I have a few photos on my camera from this evening, but my camera’s downstairs and I’ve got to edit them. So the photo ︎ above’s from yesterday, the photo to the ︎ right’s from the day before, and the photo on the ︎ left’s from a few days before that.
I’ve written a lot about not feeling very social, and I don’t. But looking at these photos I’m not sure I believe myself. I’ve visited loads of friends, and taken a class, and a few friends’ve even come to visit us here

It’s likely that the facts of the matter have very little to do with how someone might feel about it, but still, I think it’s relevant. My guest room is full, we cooked together, had a fire, and are likely to again. This house is alive with friends and a growing (literally) family. It feels nice, and it’s still only April. This here’s a magnificent place in the summer, and in spring too, we’re finding.
Some things disappoint the better you know them, but life out here’s only gotten nicer, and I’m very grateful for that. We had a friend who was moving out here from Burlington move in a month early. Their disappointment with the urban and excitement not just about the country, but this part of it specifically, these few acres, was a lovely little reminder of how nice we’ve got it.
It’s easier to forget how good a thing is, than how bad it is or was. We just let the goodness fade into the background while the bad’s got a glimmer to it.
