I made good progress on the extension of the barn roof. I hung a rafter and took measurements from it that allowed me to model the whole thing. The model will be wrong, in the end, but it’ll be right enough for me to make it to the end. There’s a lot of joints in it, a lot of chiselling. So I spent a little while sharpening a big two inch chisel I bought last weekend, a massive thing. It was very chipped and very dull when I got it. I bought it for $20. The place was selling loads of big chisels with big beautiful turned handles, but those were over a hundred dollars, and thats just inappropriate.

I do hope some day to have a bit more money kicking around. But I do hope to never stop choosing the $20 chisel that needs a few hours sharpening and handle-making over the $160 short cut that some other dude put together for me.
